How have you reacted to the new period, marked by the pandemic, that has started in 2020 ?
We reacted quickly with our global maxon COVID-19 working group and initiated protective measures. The most important thing then was and remains the well-being and health of our employees. In addition, we have introduced a secure shift production organisation and stabilised the supply chain with our partners to guarantee deliveries to our customers. It seems simple in retrospect. However, it has not always been easy for our working groups to organise the various tasks. At the same time, the health context related to Covid-19 has led to an increase in demand for respirator drives and laboratory robots. We were able to deliver the desired products to our customers quickly and flexibly using a Medical Fast Track process.
Which innovation(s) or product(s) have you developed in 2020 and would like to highlight ?
We were able to present many new products again this year, for example the ECX 4 brushless DC motor, a power pack with a diameter of just 4 millimetres. In addition, we also introduced the smallest incremental encoder on the market today, which is used in surgical robots, for example. Also worth mentioning is the new motor control of the EPOS4 series, which has a very compact design, as well as a multi-axis controller for highly dynamic positioning operations. We have also done well in terms of power : for example, we have developed new flat motors with very high torques and we have also expanded the range of "Ultra Performance" planetary gears.
Could you share your personal “motto”, which accompanies you in this particular moment and reflects your entrepreneurial philosophy ?
"Be curious and persistent. We want to constantly improve, even when something seems perfect. Keep moving forward".
Comment avez-vous réagi à la période inédite, marquée par la pandémie, qui a commencé cette année ?
Nous avons réagi rapidement avec notre groupe de travail mondial maxon COVID-19 et initié des mesures de protection. L’essentiel était alors et demeure le bien-être et la santé de nos collaborateurs. Par ailleurs, nous avons introduit une organisation sécurisée de la production par équipes et nous avons stabilisé la chaîne d’approvisionnement avec nos partenaires, pour garantir les livraisons à nos clients. Cela semble simple a posteriori. Il n’a toutefois pas toujours été facile pour nos groupes de travail d’organiser les différentes tâches. Dans le même temps, le contexte sanitaire lié au Covid-19 a conduit à une augmentation de la demande en faveur des dispositifs d’entraînement pour respirateurs et automates de laboratoire. Nous avons pu livrer les produits souhaités à nos clients rapidement et de manière flexible à l’aide d’un processus Medical Fast Track.
Quelle(s) innovation(s) ou quel(s) produit(s) avez-vous développé en 2020 et souhaitez-vous mettre en avant ?
Nous avons pu cette année encore présenter de nombreuses nouveautés cette année, par exemple le moteur DC sans balai ECX 4, un condensé de puissance dont le diamètre fait seulement 4 millimètres. Nous avons par ailleurs lancé sur le marché le plus petit encodeur incrémental actuel, qui est par exemple utilisé dans les robots chirurgicaux. A noter aussi la nouvelle commande moteur de la gamme EPOS4, de conception très compacte, ainsi qu’un contrôleur multi-axes pour les opérations de positionnement hautement dynamiques. Nous avons également bien travaillé sur le plan de la puissance : nous avons par exemple développé des nouveaux moteurs plats avec des couples très élevés et nous avons aussi enrichi la gamme des engrenages planétaires « Ultra Performance ».
Pourriez-vous partager votre « devise » personnelle, qui vous accompagne dans ce moment particulier et reflète votre philosophie entrepreneuriale ?
« Sois curieux et opiniâtre. Nous voulons nous améliorer en permanence, même lorsque quelque chose semble parfait. Continue à avancer ! »
Wie haben Sie auf die neue, von der Pandemie geprägte Periode reagiert, die im Jahr 2020 begonnen hat ?
Wir haben schnell mit unserer globalen maxon COVID-19 Task Force reagiert und Schutzmassnahmen eingeleitet. Denn das Wichtigste war und ist immer das Wohlergehen und die Gesundheit unserer Mitarbeitenden. Zudem haben wir sichere Schichtmodelle in der Produktion eingeführt sowie mit unseren Partnern die Supply Chain stabilisiert, um die Belieferung unserer Kunden sicherzustellen. Dies klingt im nachhinein simpel. Die Arbeit in den Task Forces gestaltete sich jedoch nicht immer einfach. Gleichzeitig hat die Covid-19-Situation zu einer erhöhten Nachfrage bei Antrieben für Beatmungsgeräte und Laborautomaten geführt. Mit Hilfe eines Medical Fast Track Prozesses konnten wir die gewünschten Produkte schnell und flexibel an unsere Kunden ausliefern.
Welche Innovation(en) oder Produkt(e) haben Sie im Jahr 2020 entwickelt und möchten Sie hervorheben ?
Wir konnten dieses Jahr wiederum viele Neuerungen präsentieren : Etwa den bürstenlosen DC-Motor ECX 4, ein kleines Kraftpaket mit einem Durchmesser von nur gerade 4 Millimetern. Zudem haben wir den derzeit kleinsten Inkremental-Encoder auf dem Markt gebracht, der zum Beispiel in Chirurgierobotern Verwendung findet. Nicht zu vergessen eine neue Motorsteuerung der EPOS4-Reihe in sehr kompakter Bauweise sowie ein Multi-Achs-Controller für hochdynamische Positionieraufgaben. Aber auch auf der leistungsstarken Seite waren wir fleissig, haben etwa neue, sehr drehmomentstarke Flachmotoren entwickelt sowie die Linie der „Ultra Performance“ Planetengetrieben erweitert.
